A Special Trip

In high school.Terry Fox was a popular and hardworking student.

在高中时代，特瑞佛克斯曾是一个受欢迎的、勤奋的学生。

He loved sports.He played on the school basketball team.

他喜爱运动。他在学校篮球队打球。

When he was 18,Terry got cancer.The doctors had to take off his leg.

在他18岁的时候，他得了癌症。医生不得不将他的腿截肢。

Terry never gave up.He learned to walk and run with his new "leg".

特瑞从未放弃过。他用他的“新腿”学习走路，学习跑步。

Terry saw so many people sick with cancer in the hospital.

He wanted to run across Canada to get money for cancer research.

他想环绕加拿大跑步，来为癌症患者募捐。

On April 12th,1980,Terry started a special trip across Canada.

在四月十二日，特瑞开始了一次环绕加拿大的特殊旅行。

Every day he ran about 42 kilometres.He ran on rainy days,windy days and hot sunny days.He ran through small villages and big cities.

每天他跑四十二公里。不论刮风下雨还是炎热的日子，他都坚持跑步。他跑遍了小乡村和大城市。

Terry ran for 143 days.It wasn't easy,but Terry kept running.

特瑞跑了143天。真的很不容易，但是特瑞坚持跑着。

On September 1st,1980,Terry felt very sick.

His doctors said that he had to stop his trip.Terry was very sad.

He wanted to keep running.The people of Canada were very sad,too.

They gave more and more money for cancer research.

Sadly,Terry died on June 28th,1981.He was 22 years old.

Canadians did not forget Terry.

Every September,in many towns and cities in Canada,there is the Terry Fox Run.
