(2)destroy指”彻底毁坏以至不能很难修复“既可以指实体的毁坏也可以用于抽象的东西,比如名誉,努力等。例如:

那会毁了我们产品的声誉。
(3)ruin 现在多用于借喻中,泛指一般的”弄坏了“。例如:

(2)the number of 意思是“...的数量,数目”作主语时谓语动词用单数,而a number of 后面接可数名词复数,谓语动词用复数
