过去进行时
1.过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或某段时间正在进行的动作。
过去进行时由“was/were+动词-ing形式”构成。
2.表示在过去一段时间内持续进行的动作(有时也可以有间歇)。
如:
We were watching TV from seven to nine last night.
昨天晚上七点到九点的时候我们在看电视。
She was singing from 7:00 to 7:30 last night.
她昨晚七点至七点半在唱歌。
过去进行时与一般过去时的区别
一般过去时与过去进行时的动作都是发生在过去。
一般过去时强调动作的发生或状态的存在在过去;
而过去进行时强调动作正在进行的延续性,其结构:
was/were+v.-ing
试比较:
I got up at five the day before yesterday.
前天我是五点起床的。
He was painting the lab the whole day.
他一整天都在粉刷实验室。
一般过去时的时间状语主要有:
yesterday(morning,afternoon,evening),
last night(week,month,year),ago,the day
before yesterday,in 2003,just now,long,long ago等。
过去进行时的时间状语有:
at this/that time yesterday,the whole evening,
all day yesterday等。
试比较:
He introduced Tom to us just now.
刚才他向我们介绍了汤姆。
She was doing some Washing all day yesterday.
昨天她洗了一整天的衣服。

情态动词
情态动词:Can,could,may,might,must,have to,need,情态动词无人称和
数的变化;不能单独使用,必须与其后的动词原形构成谓语
一、can的用法
1.能力:“能,会”2.许可,请求“可以”
用于疑问句中用来提出要求,用于否定句表示不允许。
Can...?回答用:yes,..can./with pleasure./
no,...can't.
3.猜测(用于疑问句、否定句)可能...
can't 不可能
1.I can lift the stone.
2.You can borrow my bike tomorrow.

can和be able to的区别
can有现在时、过去时(could);可用于被动语态。
be able to 有各种时态;指某一次动作;不可用于被动语态。
1.He says he will be able to be home for Christmas.
2.I was able to help you yesterday.
3.This problem can be settled at once.
二Could的用法
1.表示过去有过的能力和可能性“can的过去形式”
2.表示委婉礼貌的请求,常用来提问,表示“可以...”。
问句回答常为:yes,...can./no,...can't.
3.Could表示推测:“可能”
Could you speak English them?那时你能讲英吗?
He said he couldn't follow me.他说他跟不上我。
I could come earlier,if necessary.如果必要我可以早点来。
-Could you let me have your passport?
-Yes,here it is.
三may的用法
1.许可
表示许可时,无甚区别,may较正式 ,can较口语化。
could/might则是一种委婉的表达
May/might...?
回答:yes,...may./no,...can't.
1.You may go home now,Susan.
2.You may not smoke in the classroom.
3.May I sit down?
-Certainly./Yes,please./Why not?/Sure.
-No,I am sorry./I'm afraid you can't.
4.I may borrow this book,mayn't I?
2.猜测、可能性(用于肯定句或否定句中)
may not 可能不
1.The story may or may not be true.
2.Can that be true?
May that be true?
3.He can't know the truth.他不可能知道真相。
He may not know the truth.他可能不知道真相。
Might也可表示推测,同may,不是其过去式形式,而是比may
更委婉的推测。可能性也更小
四must的用法
1.必须、一定(主观看法) mustn't不准,禁止
Must...?的回答:yes,...must.
no,...needn't/don't have to
1.You must get up much earlier.
2.You must not speak ill of others.
3.Must we wash the dishes at once/
Yes,you must.
No,you needn't./you don't have to.
2.猜测(用于肯定句)否定:can't/couldn't不可能
It's 10 o'clock.My mother must be angry.
it can't be a dog.
We thought our teacher must be joking.
五have to 的用法
表示客观需要“不得不,必须”
I missed the train,so I had to take a taxi.
在疑问句和否定句中,have to 多用助动词do构成,
Did he have to do it?
You don't have to go there.
(不需要)
六need的用法
后加动词原形
表示需要,必须,用于否定和疑问句
否定:needn't(不需要),疑问句将need提前
疑问句回答:同must
Need we return the magazines today?
Yes,you must./No,you needn't.
You need not do this.
注:用于肯定句时,常作实意动词用:

祈使句
祈使句用来表达叮嘱、劝告、希望、禁止、警告、请求或命令等。祈使句
最常用来表达命令。

请安静 (请求)

要对我们的妹妹友善。(劝告)
Watch your steps.
走路小心。 (警告)
No littering.
不要乱扔垃圾。 (禁止)
Don't forget to take an umbrella.
不要忘了带雨伞。(叮嘱)
祈使句的特点:
(1)祈使句一般没有主语,说话的对象都是
第二人称“你”或“你们”,所以也可以理解为省略了
主语you.
(2)以动词原形开头,无时态和数的变化。
(3)祈使句的否定形式是在动词原形前加don't.
(4)在表达请求时,可以加上please;表达比较
强烈的语气时,可以用感叹号
Please close the door.
请把门关上。
Sit down,please.
请坐。
(5)Let's构成的祈使句往往用于提出建议。否定形式为:
Let+宾语+not+动词原形+其它成分。如:
Let's go to school together.
让我们一起上学去吧。
Let him not go.
别让他走。
(6)在请求、命令和口号中,常用无动词祈使句,它实际上是
省略了动词,从而使句子更简洁有力。如:
Just a minute,please!
请稍等!
