The mountain bike race
There is a mountain bike race in the neighborhood of Redrock Bay.Charlie invites Matt to enter.Matt is not sure at first.Then he decides to enter.He is very excited.When the day of the race comes,Matt and Charlie arrive early to check their bikes.
The race is about to start.The official is giving a warning.Matt and Charlie's friends are there to watch the race and cheer for them.Look!Charlie is riding well.He is going to win.But what is happening to Matt?

Matt:OK.Anything else?
Charlie:You have to wear a helmet,knee and elbow pads,and cycling shoes.Come on,Matt,you're a good rider.Let's enter together.
Matt:OK.I guess so.Let's fill out the entry forms.
Assistant 1:You're numbers 23 and 24.Now you must check your bikes.Always check the tires before you ride.Never ride with a flat tire.
Assistant 2:Don't forget!All competitors must read the sign,too.
Official:Be careful.Yesterday it rained so the track is slippery.Don't skid,and watch out for puddles.

副词 adverbs
1,副词，本单元共6个。
（1）规则的；（以-ly结尾）
quick——quickly；slow——slowly；bad——badly
快的、迅速的——迅速地、立即；
慢的、低速的——缓慢地、迟缓地；
坏的、劣质的——拙劣地、有害地
（2）以原型不变的副词形式
hard——hard；fast——fast 硬的、坚固的——努力地、坚固地；快的、迅速的——迅速地、紧紧地
（3）特殊的形式
good——well 良好的、聪明的——好、满意地

must 和 have to的区别。
（1）Must用于一般现在时和一般将来时，在其他形式中用“have to”来代替。
（2）在意思上；must；“必须”“应当”have to；“不得不”。
have to 有时带有一些勉强和无奈，因为那不是自愿的。而在这个单元have to是指你有义务有责任做某件事情。表示劝告和建议（语气没有must强烈）。下面我将举几个例子来让大家更好的理解。have to和must的区别。

I have to feed the fish every morning.
我每天在上不得不喂鱼（你有义务有责任喂鱼）。
I have to do the chores every day.
我每天不得不做家务（作为家庭成员你有责任有义务做家务）。
You have to wear a helmet.
你不得不带上头盔。（本单元的句子）作为参加山地车的比赛选手你有义务更有责任戴上头盔来保护自己的安全！
must 的意思是“必须”（语气比have to更强硬）就是说没有任何可以商量的余地。你必须这样做。尤其是在这个单元中的各种规则中我们可以多次见到！比如；
You must be more than 10 years old.
你必须在10岁以上（作为山地车参赛选手你的年龄必须在10岁以上）10岁以下绝对没有参赛资格。这是必须的，没有任何商量的余地！
You must have a good mountain bike.
你必须拥有一辆性能较好的山地车。

同学们请注意这是一场The mountain bike race 是山地车比赛，赛道肯定是只适合山地车的。而如果你拿轻便车甚至是折叠车去参加比赛，你肯定会被主办方取消比赛资格。Because this is a rule 因为这就是规则！

marathon race 马拉松比赛
马拉松赛是一项长跑比赛项目，其距离为42.193公里。这个比赛的距离的确定要从公元前490年的一场战役讲起。战役是波斯人和雅典人在离雅典不远的马拉松海边发生的，史称希波战争，雅典人最终获得了胜利。为了让故乡人民尽快知道胜利的喜讯，统帅米勒狄派一个叫斐里庇得斯的士兵回去报信。斐里庇得斯是个有名的“飞毛腿”，为了让故乡人早知道好消息，他一个劲地快跑，当跑到雅典时，已喘不过气来，只说了一句“我们胜利了！”就倒在地上死了。
为了纪念这一事件，在1896年举行的现代第一届奥林匹克运动会上，设立了马拉松赛跑这个项目，把当年斐里庇得斯送信跑的里程——42.193公里作为赛跑的距离。
马拉松原为希腊的一个地名。在雅典东北30公里。其名源出腓尼基语marathus，意即“多茴香的”，因古代此地生长众多茴香树而得名。体育运动中的马拉松赛跑就得名于此。
