      vt.使定居；安排；解决
      vi.安家；定居；停留
settle questions/affairs/argument
解决（问题、事务、争执）
settle down 定居
settle down to do 静下心来做某事

2.She suffered from loneliness……
她忍受孤独的痛苦……
suffer(suffered;suffered)vt.遭受；忍受；承受
suffer vi.受痛苦；受损害（+from）
suffering n.痛苦（的经验）,困难（的经历）
suffer the result/heavy losses/injures(常表抽象)
suffer from headache/illness(常表具体)

You must be prepared to suffer consequences.(后果)
She suffers from headache.
I'm suffering from a lack of time last week.
He died very quickly;he didn't suffer much.
Our business has suffered from lack of investment.(投资)

3.What she really missed was walking the dog for his neighbor.
她最怀念的是她为邻居遛狗的情景。
整句话是主系表结构。
句中what she really missed 是句子作主语,
walking the dog for his neighbor 是表语。

What he wants is a cup of green tea.
What he wants are some books.
What the monitor said is rather important.
What I want to do is(to) say goodbye.
What the little girl missed is playing with her friends.

4.“How can Linda recover from her illness in this……”
recover v.痊愈；恢复；重新获得
recovery n.复原；痊愈
recover from 从……恢复
recover oneself=recover health 恢复健康
The country has recovered from the effects of the war.
She soon recovered herself because she was young.

5.I've got tired of looking at nature through dirty curtains and dusty windows.
我已经厌倦了通过脏兮兮的窗帘和布满灰尘的窗户窥探自然。
be/get tired of   厌倦或厌烦
be/get tired with  因……而感到疲惫或劳累
He was tired of sleeping with the windows closed.
He was tired with such a long way.

6.Mother asked her if/whether she was very hot with so many clothes on.
妈妈问她穿如此多的衣服会不会很热。
with 复合结构的构成:
with+宾语(n./pron)+宾补(adj./adv./prep./v-ing/p.p/to do)

He likes sleeping with all the windows open.
He left with the light on.
A handsome boy came in the classroom with his hands in his pockets.
The murderer was brought in with his hands tied.
With a lot of housework to do,I hurried home.
He could not finish it without me to help him.

7.I am having some trouble with my classmates at the moment.
have(some,no,much,little) trouble/difficulty with sth/(in)doing sth
做某事有（一些,没有,很多,很少）困难
They had little trouble with new school life.
I have much difficulty in finding your house.
